What are Dedicated Servers?

When we speak of hosting servers, there are three major varieties - shared website hosting web servers, VPS (virtual private hosting servers) and dedicated servers. Shared servers accommodate lots of customers and thus the resources per user account are limited, VPS packages give you more server configuration freedom, but also influence other virtual hosting servers on the hardware node if used heedlessly, and dedicated servers give you the chance to do everything you desire without interfering with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated server?

Dedicated servers are usually much more high-priced than shared hosting servers or virtual hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is rather simple. If your firm has a high resource-absorbing web portal, or simply has very exact server architecture requirements, the most suitable option would be a dedicated server. For somebody who is willing to invest in safety and stability, the greater price is not an issue. You are bestowed with complete root-level access and can use 100% of the dedicated web hosting server's resources without anyone else utilizing these resources and interfering with your sites.

Hardware specs

Most hosting service providers, incl. us at Kaba Host, offer different hardware architectures you can select from in keeping with your requirements. The hardware configurations offer different kinds of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and disk drive sizes and different traffic allowances. You can pick a Control Panel, which is a handy GUI if you wish to use the dedicated hosting server for hosting purposes solely and prefer not to resort to a Secure Shell terminal for all the modifications you will be making. We offer 3 kinds of web hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The hosting CP of your choice

If you are a self-confident Linux user (our web hosting servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could administer your dedicated server through an SSH tunnel exclusively. That, however, could be awkward, particularly if you decide to grant full root-level access to somebody else who has less technical knowledge than yourself. This is why having Control Panel software pre-activated is a splendid idea. The Hepsia web hosting CP tool that we offer does not give you full server root privileges and is chiefly appropriate for someone who maintains numerous web portals that absorb lots of system resources, but desires to administer the web pages, databases and e-mailbox accounts through an easy-to-use web hosting Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel Control Panels, on the other hand, give you full root access and offer 3 access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting accounts rather than using the web server solely for yourself, you should select one of these two.

Web server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated server and of backing it up. In the event of a problem with your dedicated hosting server, such as a non-responsive Apache or an outage, it is desirable to have some kind of monitoring system activated. Here at Kaba Host the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated server as well. Backups are also an additional option - the company offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would permit you to have the very same data on 2 server disk drives as a protective measure in case of a hard disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted full root privileges deletes something unintentionally.
